Mike Khoury, The lead artist of Spore (and now Spore Galactic Adventures) created a few military vehicles with the building editor found inside of the game. They were rendered out using Maya which is why they appear so sharp looking according to Ocean Quigley’s blog.
Actually, they look great in Blender too. Make sure to use the alpha version though, and make sure the file names don’t have spaces in them. The alpha version has an awesome COLLADA importer (except for the filename issue :P)
