Spore Hero is an open-world game with non-linear gameplay. Players can accept quests, go treasure hunting, interact with other creatures, or just go exploring. The quest log keeps track of all active and completed missions. New parts are found by completing quests or by digging in conspicuous spots. You can only add parts to your creature in a nest, but as you make friends you’ll gain access to more of these safe havens. When you approach another creature you have the option to either socialize with it or engage it in combat. Socializing will often provide a quest opportunity. Soon after starting our game we were asked to join in a sing-a-long with a group of locals. In order to sing well we had to play a brief mini-game and match the angle of our remote to theirs. Completing quests earns you DNA points, which must be spent in order to use all the new parts you find.
