It’s struck me by surprise that it has been a year since I posted on BeyondSims.com, and it’s certainly a strange feeling.
Firstly because how on earth has it been an entire year? Time truly does fly and I didn’t feel it had been that long as I do occasionally post on Twitter. But also, secondly, because if you rewind many years this was once an outlet of breaking news and constant streams of updates.
I can only apologise for my radio silence on here. I am still playing The Sims and in particular have been really enjoying the Legacy Editions of The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 that were released. Being able to enjoy The Sims 1 with widescreen resolution and some enhanced visuals is brilliant, and likewise The Sims 2 is always going to be my favourite.
I think a big part of it is I have struggled to remain in constant sync with everything happening in The Sims world – and many other outlets from websites to TikTok’ers are doing a much better job at that. Instead, I like to think BeyondSims can remain as a window into the past with news dating back to 2007 (before The Sims 3 was announced!), reviews for many titles, tutorials, downloads and more.
The Sims 4, whilst I wrote glowingly about it in 2014, has become a bit of a love/hate relationship for me. I really struggle to get immersed into it for long periods and disagree with the live events. I am gutted there’s no The Sims 5 in development as I feel the foundation of The Sims 4 is what is holding it back. But, nonetheless, I do like exploring the new packs and – who knows – maybe I will get back into doing reviews again soon.
At a minimum, I am hoping to start posting more in a personal style – to share what I am doing in my game, even if its just a screenshot or short video. In fact, I have recently unboxed all of my Sims merchandise and video games – there’s so much to go through – that I hope to share that with you all!
Happy Simming and hope to share more with you soon!
