Which you may already have. These files are in the system32 folder:

------------------------
Overview:
Rescue the Sims after a crash. By making copies of the folder's content before and after, you can restore the game back to it's running state, and saves you from re-installing the game, especially all those expansion packs. When importing families from the exchange skins are added to the skin folder, but you don't know which are those files, also some installers install skin packs again you don't know the files added. The same goes for other files such as objects.
---------------------
Please Note The programs are updated to version 2.0, and are easier. With just five clicks you save the folder listing.

HOW TO USE THE PROGRAMS:
Create a folder and copy in the same folder the two programs, SimFolderLister.exe and SimfolderChecker.exe

First run SimFolderLister.exe
Step 1.:- Navigate to the folder, you want to make a copy of the listing.
Step 2.:- Next Click the "Get Folder" button.
Step 3.:- Now click the ">>" button.
Step 4.:- Click the "List Folder" button.
Step 5.:- Final step Click the "Save Folder" button

EXAMPLE:
I will make a copy of the file names listing, contained in the skins folder, my game at this point is running ok.
I select Drive C: then double click Program Files, double click Maxis, double click The Sims, double click GameData, double click Skins. The files of this folder are listed in the file list box.
Now I click the button "Get Folder" then the ">>" button and then the "List Folder" button. To save the file I click the "Save Folder" button, I type a name (oldSkins). That's all.
Two days later. I download a skins.exe or a house/family from the net. I run the program and install new skins, or import the house/family in the game, all these actions add files to my game. Then my game crashes.
I repeat the same procedure as above to make a new copy of the skins folder, save it as (newSkins).

Now I am ready to run SimFolderChecker,
For the SimFolderChecker to work, I saved the text files I created in the same folder where SimFolderChecker resides.
In the box [Enter Old Folder Name] I type (oldSkins) without the brackets and without extension, in the other box [Enter New Folder Name] I type (newSkins) again without the brackets and without extension. I click the button "Start" and voila.
The SimFolderChecker program will check the (oldSkins) file to the (newSkins) file and will show me the new files added, I make a printout and remove the new files from the folder, and I am back playing the game. Without having to do all those things (uninstall,simseraser,scandisk,defragment,re-install all the exp packs).

The SimFolderChecker program also shows the number of files you have in this folder and the number of new files added to this folder, before the crash.
                          -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
These programs are not only for crashes, another example: I installed the Renegade skins. Later I found I didn't like them, by using these programs, I removed them.
You can use these programs in many other ways. You can even use them for the Sims 2, and investigate how many package files you have, or check new package files you add. Use these programs to list, sort and print your music mp3 and video files or even pictures. For example list the folder of your music colection, select the songs you put on a cd then make a printout, saves you time from typing and sorting. Print a list of the sims videos that you put on a CD.
