Reading a few threads over on the official Sims 3 forums.  One in particular of the fact that EA and Gamestop are taking pre-orders for the first Sims 3 expansion for $40.  Insane, as the base game itself is only $10 more.  Many fans believe the reason it’s priced so high is the fact that EA is “giving” us $10 worth of free Simpoints.  Free, my butt.  I don’t understand why Sims 1 and Sims 2 expansions were $30 ($20 for the stuff pack) and now they’re planning on charging $40.  Stay out of my wallet, EA!  It’s crazy, because normally PC games are generally $30 with the huge games hitting $50.  It’s an expansion, no way should it cost that much – plus tax – and you still need a base game.

GameStop Preorder Page – $40

EA Store Preorder Page – $40

Eh…I shouldn’t worry.  If it is $40, I’ll just order from an online site and use a promo/coupon code to knock the price down to normal or just wait until Target sells it for $10 less (which they will probably do during the first or second week).
