Chalk one up for the folks over at TSR!  Ever since they got back from the Creator’s Camp in January they put together a team and created a tool to allow everybody (yes, I stated everybody) to create custom meshes for the game.  The Sims 3 Workshop will allow for plug-ins so it’s not limited to strictly TSR, any programmer should be able to contribute.  The way it works:  users can import new meshes (.obj files) and will allow you to define up to 4 selections on an object to be compatible with the ‘Create-a-Style’.

Steve stated that the tool will be available within the first few weeks of the game’s release.  They also defined the EULA to where it can be used freely for anyone – whether they decide to create content for free, donations or even subscription based.  Hopefully this won’t open up another shit-storm but I have a feeling that may happen.

Either way, I have to say I’m looking forward to learning more about the tool.  Keep your eye on this site, or better yet, The Sims 3 Workshop for the latest news!
