MaxiodHydra updated her previous post letting users know the fact that not only TS3 (retail disc) will NOT feature SecuROM, but the EA Download Manager will also NOT feature SecuROM.
After reading the letter from Rod, many of you had questions about SecuROM. I’ve taken your concerns to our management team and can confirm that SecuROM will not be included in The Sims 3 disc or in the EA Download Manager (software needed to install patches and access The Sims 3 Store).
So all in all, I think this is fantastic news. Hopefully this settles that arguement. Now all we need to do is set things straight with the in-game advertisements.
Great news. Now I hope the in-game advertisement features an opt-out option. I don’t want a Pepsi or Ford ad in the background of my machinima.
I am glad that there is not SecuROM cause it sucks. And I really hope that thier is no in game ads! That would be very stupid.
Awesome! Now I won’t have to worry about all the SecuROM problems anymore 😀
My opinion of EA has gotten a bit better now 😛
Im actually looking forward to the in game advertising, from what I understand they are going to be having the ads on billboards and on the back of milk cartons – that sort of stuff you see every day. Which I think will be quite interesting, and also give a bigger sense of reality to the game.
Jinx- if that’s all that it is, then it would actually be really cool. I’m not opposed to seeing things like that, provided I don’t need to sit through a commercial in-game. Ever. Billboards and milk cartons are cool. Forcing me to waste my time in an advertisement for a game I already paid for would make me sad.
More importantly, from the only metric the company really cares about, it makes me extremely unlikely never to purchase from the offending company again.
