Info about new store content has been posted on SimGuruTaterTot’s blog!
I’ve worked with designer Alan Copeland to come up with his thoughts on our latest masterpiece: The Stones Throw Greenhouse Venue — which includes two new premium content, such as the Plants vs. Zombies Sunflower!
A few weeks ago we mentioned that there are some really cool content coming to the Sims 3 Store over the next couple of months. Today I’m excited to preview one of my personal favorites, the Stones Throw Greenhouse! This venue is filled with more new objects and exclusive premium content than any other venue we’ve shipped before!
For the first time ever, we have four different glass roof sculpture pieces that allow you to build your own custom greenhouse, arboretum or sunlit breakfast nook.
The new SwiftGro Gardening Station has a sprinkler system with a timer to let you water a group of plants all at the same time, a megaphone to let you talk to all of the plants in the garden patch, a composter to let you fertilize a bunch of plants within range, and a workbench to let you identify new seeds that you might find in your garden.
The composter takes three fertilizers and combines them to feed all of the plants in the area. But what’s even more exciting is that the Stone’s Throw Greenhouse comes with the Plants VS. Zombies Sunflower, which produces the highest quality sunshine fertilizer for your garden! Drop some sunshine in your composter and watch the quality of your garden improve by leaps and bounds! But the fun doesn’t stop there. The Sunflower also loves to sing and dance with your Sim!
Additionally there are over a dozen new objects to help you achieve gardening nirvana!
I’m pissed.. I’m actually pissed at this now.. I’m not even kidding!
Exactly, looks awesome, and we have to pay probably as much as we have to pay for a stuff pack for a mere 10 objects or so. (maybe 10-20).
Oooo this looks lovely. I wonder if they will include it in Monte Vista 😀
I’am angry.
Another feature taken out from expansion.
Why EA!!!
“Wait! i have an idea! Let’s remove the Seasons new World and sell it on the store. Let’s name it “Sunlit Tides” because look like Summer.
Better, let’s remove the gardening features and the “The Stones Throw Greenhouse Venue” from Seasons, because we can sell it separately as a cool new Set!
Let’s remove some Christmas/Halloween themed objects from the EP and let’s make it “Premium Content” for holidays.”
i am really disappointed.
My thoughts exactly. But whatever.
Spon1Player,
I wish they had included this with Supernatural or Seasons!
Why are you pissed? Anyways, looks awesome! 😛
come on , its the crises that make companies like this ? they need to sell to survive
so dont blame them , its that or ea goed bankrood and we can never play sims anymore
I agree with CIndy, at least we get this stuff somehow. I find it much worse to have people complain all the time… just don’t buy it.
now they use the sprinklers for the garden?
i hope sprinklers will be back also in university like they did in de sims 2
I agree that EA with it’s billions of dollars in sales needs to keep from going bankrupt.
The problem I have is this set will probably cost $21-24 meaning you will have to by $30 worth of simpoints.
Sims 3 store should sell points in $1 incraments.
@Cindy & @Sean
Seriously?
Oh no! We’re in the middle of an economic crisis! So let us anger and estrange our potential customers by stripping our products bare and selling of the parts for ridiculously huge prices no sane person should be willing to pay for it!
Yeah… sounds like a great cure for the crisis.
It’s simple math, really. How do you convince your potential customers to spend as much money as possible? By offering FABULOUS products, for GREAT prices. They stopped doing that several years ago. And that is why people complain. Stop making up excuses for EA. They’re not holy. They’re not sacred. They’re not great. From the looks of it, they aren’t even competent, let alone worthy of pity.
I love this venue. Will I pay for it? Not a dime. Will I download it? Yeah. I’ll consider it a very meager making-it-up-gift for all the shitty expansions so far.
Exactly, and EA aren’t the only ones. It’s becoming practice for more and more companies to nickel and dime you for every little thing. Bad economy is a poor excuse for horrible business practices. This is why they were voted worst company of the year among many other reasons.
Thanks for the update on this!
Cheers,
Melissa
Probably they removed the Sprinkler from the University EP just to sell it separately. So, you will only get it if you buy this gardening set.
The main problem with the Store isn’t necessairly the content, but the price for a SimPoint, which is overpriced. Inf act, I think they will get MORE money from lowering the overall price of SimPoints.
Not saying I don’t think that its annoying and id rather have it in an expansion but I find it much worse to have a selection of people who complain every time something new comes out in the store that looks like it could be connected with an expansion.
@Sean
I guess I can safely consider myself one of the people who “always complain when something new comes out in the store that looks like it could be connected with an expansion”.
So,… why do I do it?
1) Because EA has released too many store items, too often, too closely related to a just-released expansion.
2) Because too many expansions have been too crappy and/or buggy with too little new gameplay and content.
3) Because staying silent won’t change a thing.
4) Because far too many people are keeping their silence. The only reason why it’s such a ‘select’ group of people, is because most people believe nothing will change anyway. I believe EA will have no choice but to change if their fanbase slams their foot into the ground and demands for that very change to be made.
I don’t really have a problem with the store itself, Being able to buy extra content is great. If, and only if, the prices and quality are reasonable and great respectively. I don’t mind seeing store content related to expansion packs either. If and only if their price is reasonable, their quality is great AND THE EXPANSION PACK IS ALREADY FABULOUS. Remember the kiddy swing after generations? That just ticked me off! The same thing happens pretty much every expansion since Late Night. And it looks like seasons won’t be an exception.
Of course, I haven’t played Seasonsyet. It’s possible it’s ‘great’ or at least ‘good enough’ even without the Greenhouse. But I believe it’s a missed opportunity to rebuild some of the Sims’ fanbase either way.
i found a Greenhouse reference in the SimIFace.dll after patch 1.42. probably they were planning to release the set after seasons.
// Sims3.SimIFace.IWorld
bool IsPosInsideGreenhouse(Vector3 position);
What about The Sims 2 AL? It had coding for the baby swing chair and a mat for the new born baby to play on, but they were excluded from the EP, but still had its coding in it; both chairs and baby mat were sold in The Sims 2 Store. I didn’t even knew about this after the store closed. That was something.
The green house sure does look great. I wonder how the sunflower will look like and what it does.!
EA will bankrupt If they keep doing things like this.
These things are the reason why they are in crisis.
It looks like it has an indoor and outddo resturent with it. Oh and by the way the holiday sets will be rereleased in December and free. Simguru Sarah says r
theyll still be free.
