Fan sites are dropping like flies and this time it’s Infinite Sims. Due to loss of interest and time to keep up the site due to work and studies, Artemu has decided to close shop. With the closure if Infinite Sims, we are also saying goodbye to The Sims News Bot. Farewell Infinite Sims and good luck to you Artemu in whatever the future holds for you.
Howdy Guys,
As you may have seen, the site has not been updated in quite a while, and due to a decision which I have been considering for a very long time, I will now be closing the site.
The reason for this closure is due to a shift in my interests; of which my interests in this site have been non-existent for many months now. Due to the time required to maintain this project, along with the time required from either my work, or my studies, I just no longer want to have the burden of having to worry about a website too.
Thanks to everyone for their time, and most of all thank you to Snooty from SnootySims for originally giving me the foundations and motivation to run this project. He is and will always be a very good friend of mine. Also I just want to thank all my other friends I have made over the years for their help, I will always be in contact with you guys.
Please also note, that as a consequence of our closure – The Sims News Bot will no longer be functional as of our closure.
So long, and farewell to this very big community. Have Fun 🙂
Regards.
RIP. I worked there for a few weeks but just didn’t feel motivated to post anything.
that’s really sad maybe one day in future we could have new sites
goodbye to a great site
so does that mean the downloads wont work anymore?
Oh wow… I always used to go there. Sad to see them go 🙁
Wow I’m shocked to see them go I use to go there all the time and of course this site for news but that is life you move on to other things, but it is also weird how so many sites are going away lately.
It’s scary when the fan sites start going the way of the dodo… it also means interest in the sims franchise has plummeted to an all time low…
That or the original sim fans are growing older and have to focus on other things now. Games tend to drop lower on the personal list since we have work, bills, and school to worry about.
Very true, Try having a family, pets, a job, going to school, or any combination there of. Video games & blogs go to the back burner unless you don’t care & spend all your freetime online anyway.
A BOT?! D: I was searching for a news bot past few days… And now i found it.. A tad too late ;-;
I can’t really say I’m surprised. With the way EA’s treated the Sims community over the last few years, it was only a matter of time before people packed up and moved onto other things.
The advent of micro-transactions, a (failed)clamp-down on user mods, Sims Social (more micro-transactions), half-baked and bug-ridden EPs and laughable Stuff Packs (along with SecuROM and other anti-consumer projects EA embarked upon over the last couple of years) has pretty much killed my own interest in The Sims over the last couple of years and I am merely a gamer, not a site owner.
There are times I wished that Will Wright would buy back the rights to The Sims, but sadly, in this modern gaming environment, we have a situation now where treating the fans and consumers like cash cows begging to be milked is the norm, and we would just end up with more of the same – micro-transaction-based, empty husks of games with a £40 price tag and useless social features that nobody even wanted,
I too am sorry to see Infinite Sims go, but wish him all the best.
It is very scary, the number of websites going down and closing shop and I fully understand and fully blame EA for the loss of interest. Hopefully they, EA, will realize what they are doing to one of the most successful game franchises ever and pay attention to the paying public…but I’m not holding my breath.:-( My problem is I got no other game to go to. 🙁
Very, very sad indeed. But I can understand them. I too, struggle to update and moved onto other games.
My site also has a pretty big forum which I can’t just delete just because I lack time.
I will try to keep the site online and post at least the important news and who knows, someday, the Sims spark will return.
This may sound silly, but I feel as though I am holding my breath…just knowing that it will be closing so soon. I still have the banner that was used for one of the New Year celebrations saved someplace. I think it was for 2007.
I never did adjust to the new name. I still think of it as TheSims2.co.za. I suppose I always will.
Farewell, Infinite Sims/ The Sims 2 South Africa.
