I can’t believe that i overlooked this review/comparison of the PC and Console versions of Pets by IGN. D’oh! Anyways, they’ve compared the two with a list of features in both and that are exclusive to one or the other. There’s also a pic of a Ghost Dog!
What Is It?PC:
Pets on PC/Mac is a proper disc expansion much like World Adventures or Late Night. There’s a new town and obviously the addition of pets.
Console:
The Sims 3 Pets for consoles is a separate disc game, complete with a new town and full set of Achievements and Trophies. Karma Powers are back with some new tricks, like one that turns all animals in the area feral and another that allows you to turn a pet into a human and vice versa. Another nice addition is that when your pet meets Death you can control its ghost until it completely passes on or you revive it. There’s also a new feature – the Mystery Journal – which includes five puzzling situations (each mystery has multiple steps) to solve with some help from your furry friends. Finally, you can use Kinect’s voice commands to control your Sims. Phew! That’s a lot of stuff.
Thanks to SimsVIP for the reminder.
Any idea on all the death types for animals (more than just old age? I hope) and any new death types for Sims?
Haha I love how they shaded Ambitions and Generations? “Pets on PC/Mac is a proper disc expansion much like World Adventures or Late Night. There’s a new town and obviously the addition of pets.”
Build A Pet
PC: Can only build adult animals.
Console: Can make babies (kittens or puppies), young adults or adults.
Does this mean the PC version animals can’t make puppies or kittens? Or it just means we cannot build them but have them naturally.
Oh thank you! ๐ That’s awesome to hear!
Theblackscorpion,
Even if the Console version by itself was better overall, I think it would be no contest for one reason. The PC Version will be playable with a bunch of other expansion packs, and thus allow much more gameplay. The Console version maybe a stand alone, but without all the other expansion packs, for the Sims 3, I can imagine it getting really boring pretty fast, especially since there’s no world editor for the consoles, and therefor players will be stuck with the same neighborhood every-time they play the game, unless EA decide to make another one for the consoles, which I don’t think they’ll do, but even, it probably wouldn’t be that much.
You can clearly tell by this review that the reviewer is a console fan.
that ghost dog is blue, so old age and death by drowning is all we now right now. Haven’t heard anything about new Sim ghosts yet.
Cats, Dogs and Horses CAN breed in The Sims 3 Pets for PC. All it means is, unlike Create A Pet for the Sims 2 Expansion, this time we can ONLY make adult pets in CAP. Once again, YES, they can breed in the PC version. ๐
Im a console fan.
i dont have the right stuff for the pc version, so console is much cheaper and i play Sims 3 almost every day and it has NEVER got boring.
i hope there will be more console Sims games as there are millions of fans that prefer them to pc. just saying.
