Okay, so it took me a while – a long while – to get the patches up.  I had a lot of trouble understanding what EA was doing with a patch that was 600MB.  Turns out, it is a pretty simple explanation. After the release of the 1.22 patch, from now on there will be one patch that will update all regions and all expansions/stuff packs. This is the way it should have been all along. It’s going to make my job a lot more easier in updating the patches pages. 🙂 Here’s a full explanation from Nichaedemus over at the Sims 3 Forums. I’d like to give thanks to all those involved for helping me out on this issue – Hafizah M, Juzz, TickleontheTum and countless others.

IMPORTANT

Since the release of The Sims 3 Generations and base game update 1.22.9, players no longer need to update their expansions and stuff packs. All updates will now be applied only to the base game. This should make the patching process easier and prevent base game incompatibility errors. You can manually update the other expansion and/or stuff packs if desired, but this is no longer necessary.

All expansion and stuff packs released after World Adventures now come in only two game regions:

Region 1 – Disc Version (regardless of geographic location)
Region 7 – Digital Download Version (regardless of geographic location)

Cumulative Base Game 1.22.9 Super Patcher for The Sims 3

For those who are unable to patch the base game to version 1.22.9 either via EADM or via the use of manual incremental patches, here is the official EA download link for the base game standalone cumulative Super Patcher:

http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims…s/TS3_1.22.9.0110xx_update.exe

IMPORTANT: The Super Patcher is designed to work with the base game of any version number and any game region. After applying the cumulative patch your base game will be brought to version 1.22.9.

Note that the standalone cumulative patch is self executable, meaning you can simply download it to your Windows desktop or elsewhere and run the setup installer directly. Other than ensuring that the game and launcher are not running, no further setup is required.

If you should receive a patch error message stating that the installed version of the game could not be determined, it is advised that you run the patcher as an administrator. You can do this by logging into Windows via an administrator account or by right-clicking on the patch installer and then selecting “Run as Administrator.”

Cumulative EP1 2.17.2 Super Patcher for The Sims 3 World Adventures

For those who are unable to patch the EP1 game to version 2.17.2 either via EADM or via the use of manual incremental patches, here are the official EA download links for the EP1 standalone cumulative Super Patcher:

If using Region 1
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims…3EP01_2.17.2.011031_Update.exe
If using Region 2
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims…3EP01_2.17.2.011032_Update.exe
If using Region 3
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims…3EP01_2.17.2.011033_Update.exe
If using Region 5
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims…3EP01_2.17.2.011035_Update.exe
If using Region 7
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims…3EP01_2.17.2.011037_Update.exe

IMPORTANT: The Super Patcher is designed to work with the EP1 game of any version number. After applying the cumulative patch your EP1 game will be brought to version 2.17.2.

To find out the correct patch version to use for the EP1 game, navigate to where the EP1 game is installed – by default:

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin
Or:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin

Now open the file named skuversion.txt but do not change anything in it. The SKU version should indicate the current version number of the EP1 game. The last digit of the version number represents the game region – 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7. After you are done viewing skuversion.txt, close the file without saving it. When choosing a patcher to download, look for the corresponding region number in the header text situated above each download link.
