The Sims Medieval was a major flop. The game is so weird that is not appealing to almost anybody. As a RPG is flawed, the controls are not good and lacks of a coherent storyline, being just a bunch of random quests. As a Life Simulator, is better than as a RPG, but still is disappointing. It has no lifestages, only two basic needs, and the worst thing: you cannot build anything, you can even chose among a large number or pre-made buildings. You are doomed to stay in the same building in all the games.
I actually believe that Medieval is a flawed, yet intriguing concept. It would be lovely if EA would take the time to expand it and “fix” it, but since they added SecuROM is patch 2.0 and in the first and only EP (Pirates and Nobles), I would not touch it with a ten foot pole even if that miracle were to take place.
I scarily quite liked Medieval. Had a lot of charm, and it worked as a spin off imo.
I think loyal fans should make fan made-additions.
I totally disaggree with you. Sims Medieval is something the RPG world need : a casual RPG where you don’t need 2 hours of battles to go from one place to another. I like the idea to have a human hero who work, eat and sleep and not a superhero who just live for battles and glory. Sims Medieval hero are more real. I like the humor. I like the the less war-oriented quests. It’s something so rare, the new class of heros like bard or merchant.
What Medieval need is more EP. Medieval is vast for the visual elements. Think about viking, mongol, the end of Classical Era, the Renaissance… Think about Pacific Island ant their primitive side, Inca… You can add many quests and game mechanisms like weather (red rain?), animals (lion, llama?) but also many more things. But the game is unofficially dead. So, it’s just sad.
