Fingers crossed for Sims 4 or for Maxis working on a weather Expansion. What kind of Sim game do y’all think they could be working on?

    Black Scorpion,
If its going to be the SIms 4 we probably won’t know for awhile, since it probably won’t be released until sometime after the last Sims 3 expansion pack. So they probably won’t announce it within the next few months either.

Hoping for a second Sims MMO.

I still say we arent getting weather. I remember how badly my game would lag with all Sims 2 EP & SP while snowing or raining. Now my Sims 3 lags with just the current EP & SP. I dont even want to think what snow/rain would do to it. It would just be very hard on lower end computers.

can be anything, except TheSims 4.
the EA will not transfer the responsibility of production of The Sims franchise to another team (in another country), if they already have one with a lot of experience, in USA.
    (sorry about the English…)

The way it is written it somewhat implies that it is a spin-off or something new like HiveMind (could also be The Sims 4 or an expansion pack for the current edition, but that doesn’t sound much probable). Perhaps a new SimCity.
    Dunno, let’s wait and see…

The Sims 4 or something like SimCity 5, otherwise I’m not interested.

@Spon1Player – Spore Creature Keeper got canned awhile back.

I’m hoping that it’s not another Sims Spin-Off. I suspect an Expansion or Sims 4. Although, the “Sims-Styled” part kinds throws me off.

EA is NOT working WITH Maxis, Maxis was swallowed up by EA long ago and no longer exists. It is EA (Bright Light) working on a “Maxis Styled” game.
Mathew Thomson works for EA Bright Light Division which handles film tie-ins:

    UK (Bright Light)
EA Bright Light began life as the EA UK studio back in 1995 – the studio synonymous with most successful movie-game series of all time, Harry Potter. It also has a deep and rich gaming heritage through the acquisition of Bullfrog Productions, with games such as Theme Park, Syndicate, Populous and Dungeon Keeper as names that are familiar to many of us in the industry today.
In 2007 EA Bright Light set up a new identify, with a focus on young audiences and family oriented entertainment and now predominantly build games for the Maxis label, whether it’s continuing work with the Harry Potter series or developing original properties, alongside numerous projects under a long term Hasbro relationship. But it doesn’t stop there, because Bright Light’s expertise in creating games for Nintendo and handheld platforms, the Studio is also working with other divisions within EA to consult and produce specific skus. For instance, our handheld team have developed Need For Speed Shift for the PSP.
Bright Light’s goal is to become the world’s leading character action studio, making games that all the family can enjoy. A number of new IPs are currently in development that, alongside Harry Potter, will take the Studio there. The Studio is built up of a great team of full-time employees and also constantly boosts its skills with the very best in contracted and outsourced staff. This gives it the flexibility to quickly ramp projects up when the Studio moves from pre-production into production and needs to seek out the very best skills for the games that are being built.
EA Bright Light work hard to manage the work/ life balance that is so often under scrutiny in the industry and here it is possible to make great games and still have fun as well as a social and/ or family life… maybe it’s time for you to join EA Bright Light at one of the best places to work within the games industry.

So we are probably looking at a film-tie in game that they are making as a Sims ‘style’ game…
Sorry to burst the bubble of hope!

    1. He works for EA so he can be moved to different parts of the company, i.e. the Maxis team. Also, no need for the attitude.

I’d like to think it’s SimCity 5 but I won’t get my homes up.

I really want weather, but I highly doubt this would have anything to do with that.
And I think Spore is officially dead…unless it’s an expansion to that Dark Spore game.
My guess/hopes are for Sim City 5! Or something new! I’d love a 2012 version of Sim Tower haha, that was one of my favorites!
Come to think of it, with the hit of The Sims Social and all those online crap games like Farmville, I’m surprised Maxis/EA hasn’t made a Facebook version of like Sim Farm & Sim City to rival Zynga and stuff. They could probably get a ton of users just based on nostalgic users.

There’s a Facebook version of SimCity in the works. Would most likely be by Playfish. Hopefully, this isn’t that.

I really don’t think Sims 4 will ever be release in the market. Instead, I think The Sims FreePlay 2 has better chance of release more than Sims 4…..

Bright Light was closed down due to the dwindling sales of the Harry Potter games, and the fact there are no more movies to base the games on anyway lol. Most of the team there have moved to other parts of EA. So when they say a “Maxis Sims Style” game for an “unannounced Maxis IP”, it’s probably safe to say that it is indeed Maxis working on this title. What it is, I don’t know. The wording suggests a new IP and not a sequel/spin-off in my eyes, but we’ll see 🙂

what ever it is i bet it wont hardly ever be fixed by a patch.:( EA is mean like that.

I don’t think it will be Sims 4 but maybe it’ll be some story game like Sims Medieval or the long awaited weather expansion.
