SimGuruGraham has shared some insight about the first version of Champ Les Sims along with two early screen shots.
Ever wondered why the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe were in World Adventures but didn’t actually appear in France? Take a rare peek at pictures of an early France prototype… We eventually decided having these huge landmarks in a town felt awkward, so we made Champs Les Sims a countryside village on the outskirts of Paris.
There are XML files in the GameplayData package that show at one point they were planning to allow Sims to go up the Eiffel Tower and kiss/woohoo/etc. Presumably it was to be a rabbit hole.
Are you guys serious? That would have been so amazing!! Why on earth would they have not included that?
While I do love the France version they included…I also hate it. They really needed to include the Eiffel Tower and the Arc du Triumph in the actual town, whether it was a rabbit hole or not.
The fact that it was advertised on the back of the game box that the Arc Du Triumph was going to be in the game and then they left it out of the city ticked me off. The town was a lot less special to me because of that as it didn’t include to awesome objects that they created in what could have been an amazing town!
Kiwi_tea: It also looks like they were originally going to have at least some of the regular work place rabbit holes in France as well. I wonder if they were originally planning to make it so the players could have families living permanently in the different destinations, and than decided for one reason or another, maybe involving gameplay issues that made it too impractical, not to put that feature in the game.
Well they obviously got that wrong cause its possible with the Twallen’s Traveler mod.
Apart from that, now I got an Idea for summer holiday CAW project. Champ Les Sims, the way it was meant to be. OOO even got a slogan for it ^^
That would have been cool. Oh! That’s right, there’s an unused “Wondrous View” moodlet associated with it.
Current version of Champ Les Sims better, than this.
lol “felt awkward” ?!?! Just because their town designers suck it doesn’t mean they look awkard. Sorry but that is a lame excuse and a lazy way out.
Although I do like the small village Champs les Sims, that second picture looks like it would be awesome.
Arsenicum,
I agree, the final version definitely looks much better.
You only say that because the other two are betas/alphas and not finished, both fo the above version are not finished, and lack of the detail, so obviously the current version looks better.
I kind of wish that they had gone ahead and made France more of a city, like on the trailers. I was so looking forward to buzzing around through crowded streets on a Kenspa, taking vacation photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, other fun tourist-y stuff like that. I feel like they really made Egypt and China distinct, with pyramids and the sphinx, and the oriental pagodas and a few broken pieces of the Great Wall on the edge, but Champs lès Sims just feels like it could be any old country town, not specifically French.
Oh well, I suppose my anger over WA being an adventure pack, not a vacation type of pack, kind of contributes to being upset over France.
awkward!? what a load of bulls**t that really pisses me off also you can get the effil tower by typing testingcheatsenabled true and pressing enter and then typing buydebug on
