It is good to know that the team behind the Restoration of The Sims Online is still hard at work! Below are some of the recent videos they have put out recently. Supposedly it is in the pre-Alpha stage with an estimated closed beta sometime in (late) 2012. Thanks to Frankie and a few others for keeping me updated on this project! Good luck, TSOR Team!

My biggest fear (well other than this project getting scrapped by people losing interest) is when it gets nearer to completion, EA is going to be failing their lawyers around and shutting them down. If that happens, it’s going to be one of my last straws in putting up with them…
Just so you know, Ghsot and Afr0, the leaders of the team for TSOR, looked over and made sure that there is no way in hell that lawyers from EA can successfully attempt to sabotage and shut down the projects. so you shouldn’t be worried 😉
The Sims Online >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The Sims “Social”.
I hope it all works fine.
Judhudson,
I know you are going to hate me telling you this, but isn’t it a bit unreasonable to expect EA not to be suing them for this? After all, its EA’s property and they are giving it away without their permission.
@Damienf519 – no, no hatred at all. I would agree with you if The Sims Online was still around and these guys were making a free version, but seeing as TSO was axed by EA, bottom line is that it poses no issues in terms of hurting any of EA’s sales and shouldn’t be of any threat. Of course, I could see EA using the whole “brand recognition” as grounds for a lawsuit.
The Sims Social forever!
While The Sims Online was a fun game with a great community…I just can’t see why they would bother now with this. I mean, the game is using a decade old graphic system and has been offline for 3 years or so…while it may be fun to re-live those days for a while….I just feel as if this might not be worth the large amounts of time these individuals are spending on it…….but that’s just my opinion.
If you take a look at the forum (not sure if you have to register to see it) then you will see a special thread on the legality of this in quite some length. It is completely legal. What would NOT be legal is if TSO-R were to charge for anything in relation to this project; thus, the game will be forever free.
Nick, I totally understand where you are coming from. But by the same token, some of us just really miss the game for the friendships we’ve made and for the charm it always had. It’s sort of like a more fun way to go back to TS1 because you can play with others and chat with comic balloons (minus being able to have children). The great thing, however, is that for TSO-R, the developers are starting the project from scratch, meaning that they can implement new features if they truly wanted to (which could even include things from the TS1 EPs, as well as new heads/bodies).
looks good – its more fun than Soical one – means you don’t have to send nofitys
I only played Sims Online when it was free. Then they shut it down. I really love Sims Online and hope these guys will bring it alive again. Good luck to TSOR!
jud – put they not accepting new accoucts at time
cause i tried to resigter in main story
Sadly, Ghost decided to suspend all action, he’s team was not the best of quality (as well as it’s been provent he video above with the actualy TS game play is a hoax)
So sadly the project is cancelled 🙁
Stupid EA Games, it’s their fault. Gold-Digging who….
There is always an upcoming game called Vitare, which is targed for people who played The Sims Online/EA-Land and will incorporate some of the best bits and similar gameplay: but obviously not a clone because they cant clone it.

COME ON !!! I have the sims1 and two expansions, but i never got to play simsonline. from the videos i watch on youtube, it looks like the best part of thesims. ):
Well I must say it would be great if they finish the Restoration. I never got to play The Sims Online but it looks great. Keep up the good work guys and good luck!
I would love to try this out even if the graphics are old. i was too young when the Sims online came out to play it seeing as how my mom would have never let me interact with strangers on the internet. I hope this project really does happen, because I really want to know what this game was all about.
Is this project still going on ?
@Cedric – Nope.
