March 8, 2011 – Redwood Shores, California – Last year, Barnacle Bay was introduced as the first fully downloadable world available for sale at The Sims 3 Store. Barnacle Bay quickly became The Sims 3 Store’s most popular item, the World is now available in select retail stores worldwide as well as The Sims 3 Store. Barnacle Bay is a themed world full of new locations, such as Goldbeard’s Gym, Crowe’s Nest Campgrounds, and Hogan’s Deep Sea Diner, and exclusive items that allow players to customize their game in all-new ways! The brand new retail bundle will include the Barnacle Bay World, the Buccaneer’s Bounty Item Set, and two all-new exclusive staircases.
The lore of Barnacle Bay includes a rich history of waylaid sea voyagers, the likes of which, were fisherman, pirates and artists who were all searching for better lives across the Simuyan Sea. Today, modern day Sims will find it a much different island than those previous inhabitants with its vibrant beaches, campgrounds, and a new bustling downtown to explore. Discover treasures and uncover mysteries when you take your Sim exploring along the abandoned piers of Founder’s Beach. Be sure to double check what relics lie below at Goldbeard Galleon Gallery. If your Sim is not the adventurous type, see who they run into at Hogan’s Deep Sea Diner or grab some grub at The Wanderer’s Watering Hole and strike up a conversation with your neighbor. Start a new life at Barnacle Bay like the sea faring mates before you, or take it all in during a long vacation. With The Sims 3 Barnacle Bay, you’ll find new lots that are ready for moving in or just exploring. Enrich your Sims and their lives in all-new ways with over two dozen exclusive items only available in The Sims 3 Barnacle Bay.

Their sure treating this like it’s an expansion pack. I for one could have cared less about BB when it hit the store, so I could still care less about it coming to retail stores. I just don’t think the dev team gets it. The game should come first, instead of this ^^^
