Testing cheats can be enabled by going to the programs folder where the sims medieval is installen then gamedatasharednonpackagedini and in there you can find a file called commands there change the 0 behind testingcheatsenabled to 1 and there ya go.

Ok, so when I try to save the file after changing 0 to 1 and I click yes for replacing the other commands file, it says the file name isn’t correct. Do I not replace the other commands file and just have 2 commands?

If you still have trouble, move the file to your desktop, make the change and save, then return the file to the ini folder.

for anyone not being able to save (overwrite) the file in mention, you need to right click, un-check read only then click ok, then go back a folder, right click on the Ini folder and go to security tab, once there look for Users, click on that then look for Edit, then check the box that says Full Control, once that is done click ok then go back to that file and you will be able to save over it no hassles.
btw… im using Windows 7 Ultimate x64, 7 and Vista will be the same and you’ll probs need to provide administrative approval. i know how i mentioned it works because it did the same thing to me and being a techy, it comes as common knowledge to me to check the security settings.

Testingcheats insn’t in the game anymore. The command now is setmood. It has the same effect as testingcheats

How do i use these codes?
You don’t input a command; you Ctrl+SHIFT click a sim once it’s done and your game restarted (if it was open).
After you change the file in the GameData folder, go into the game and bring up the cheat console (Ctrl+SHIFT+C). You can enter “help” and it will list all the possible cheat codes. The new ones are:
“setKP [points]” :gives you that amount of kingdom points
“setmood [min/max/supermax]” :if supermax is chosen, the Focus meter remains maxed.
“setQP [points] : gives specified number of quest points
Once the file has been changed, you can also click and drag hunger and energy bars as well as relationships; Shift+click on a location to teleport there; and Shift+click on any person for enhanced options.

once you change the code and save it, run the game and try sliding the energy or hunger bar to full. the testingcheats is automatic. You don’t have to comand it or anything

You need to change it in the folder where you installed the game… not on the disc.

Hellooo windows 7 = control panel>system and security listed under action center you can (change user account control settings) that rids you of all checks for admin privileges. If you are secure in you being the only one using your pc.. like MOST people lol God i hate that feature.

So does anyone else find it sadenning that there are no “Testingcheats”? I have my monarch out in the middle of the forest about dead because his focus/mood is all the way in red because he just got mauled by a bear and his hunger is so low he would look like the grim reaper due to starvation and i can’t “Hack” my way to make him feel better? Cheats are what kept my people alive in Sims3! What am I to do when there is no other virtually possible way!?
I’m stuck on a quest and I’m annoyed! Idk how to complete it. There aren’t any hints.
I’m so happy I can Teleport my Sim again. This game is so annoying with the amount of walking around. I don’t think in all my years of simming, that I’ve ever used the FFx4 button so much. Also, I just found out once your Kingdom has finished its quests, you cannot continue with it for new ambitions; you have to start all over with all new heroes. I’m soooooo mad about that. Doesn’t EA understand how attached we get to our Sims? What’s the point of having CAS in a game like this if you’re only going to play for a pre-determined amount of time? Yes, you get free play but there’s really no point since you have no responsibilities and no XP to be earned.
It’s like real life, once the fun part of your life is over, there’s only Marriage and Kids…then Death, LOL!!
Once you get to the ini click save as command.ini make sure c you change from text file to all files, save to desktop, delete the original then paste in folder. Once done restarting program puts In effect. Start over and you will be able to change hunger And energy just by clicking and dragging and pressing cntrl and clicking moodlet will remove the moodlet.

If you cannot get the command prompt to show up in game by pressing ctrl + shift+ c, try pressing ctrl + shift + the windows button + c

you have to edit a file instead of typing it in like regular codes.
Go to c://program files/electronic arts/the sims medieval/game data/shared/nonpackaged/ini folder
copy and paste the command.ini file on your computer and change the “TestingCheatsEnabled=0” to “TestingCheatsEnabled=1”
replace the old command.ini with the new one you just edited. load up the game and testingcheatsenabled is automatically working.

First off, using all caps is just retarded. 2nd, thats not “Hacking” anything. You purchased the program. It belongs to you. If you edit it or mod it in any way shape or form, that is at your own descresion. You can’t “Hack” windows if its your own PC. Its only considered “Hacking” If you access someone else PC. Besides, that’s not “Hacking” anyway. Thats just basic editing. Which there is nothing wrong with. Do your homework before you comment. And don’t talk in all caps.

To all the dodo-brains that can’t find the GameData folder and even then, don’t know what to do, here is a nice little step-by-step instruction. Okay, stupids, go to C, then go to Program Files. Under Program Files, you will see a folder called Electronic Arts. Inside that folder will be another folder, The Sims Medieval. Inside, you will find five folders: Caches, Game, GameData, Support, and Thumbnails. Inside GameData, there are two folders: Shared and Win32. Go into Shared and you shall find NonPackaged and Packages. Inside of Nonpackaged is Ini and Worlds. Inside Ini, there are a buttload of .ini files. The first one is CameraFade. The second is Commands. Open Commands. At the end of all of the blah blah blah, you will see TestingCheatsEnabled=0. Change it to a 1. Click File and then click “Save As…”. Save it as Commands.ini and save it as an “All Files” as opposed to a .txt. Instead of saving it to its original place, save it to Desktop. Go to where the original file is. Delete the original file. Cut or copy the new file from Desktop and paste it where the original was. DONE. Now do you get it, dumb-dumbs?

Okay I have bought and installed the disk of The Sims Medieval and I’ve tried to uncheck the read only but when trying to apply it says i need administrator permission. Is there anyway around this or should I just copy the commands file to desktop change and save it there, then delete the original commands file and replace it with the new one? Won’t that crash/destroy my game??
ok, for all you people that have windows 7 and it says, “Access is Denied”, right click on “Commands.ini” and click properties. Then click on SECURITY, click Edit… in between the two boxes. after that click on the one that say “Users” and then in the second box check “full control”… Now you will be able to save the file.

Hope- The sacred oak is between the two churches. There is a large tree and in front of the tree are some small herb bushes, “discover” those bushes and you should find the item you are looking for by the Sacred Oak. Hope this helps!

Rename the new one “commands_.ini” or somethin’ then delete the original one ….then rename the edited one commands.ini
Go to desktop , game icon, right click, show target button, then use the up button on top twice … then if the fever did not break call a real doctor….lol.

For those of you who have Windows 7 and can’t make changes to the ini file, there is a much MUCH easier and safer way than going in and changing your security settings. Click your start menu and search for “Notepad” but don’t click to open it, instead right-click “Notepad” and choose “Run as administrator”. Hit yes when prompted whether you want to allow “Notepad” to make changes to your computer, and then open up the ini file THROUGH NOTEPAD.
Just go to File > Open, browse to the file (on my computer it’s “C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsThe Sims MedievalGameDataSharedNonpackagedIni” and make sure you change the drop down choice above the open button from “Text Document (*.txt)” to “All Files (*.*)” so that you can see the entire contents of the directory.
Anyway, it’s not as fully functional as Sims 3’s testingcheatsenabled. All I’ve really been able to do so far is change my hunger and energy bars by clicking on them and sliding them around.
Just read most of this stuff and some peoples ignorance is just fling hilarious to me
Does anyone know how to activate the testingcheatsenabled for a mac? I was on another site that told me to go to “Game Data” within my electronicarts/simsmedieval/Game Data and “Game Data” was not in my sims medieval folder like they said it would be. I couldn’t get on to question them because they required an address in order to create a profile and I wasn’t willing to do that. I thought maybe because I’m running SM on mac, that’s probably why I don’t have this folder?
Wow that’s not nice. I think most of us know how to get into our C folders find EA folder, sims medieval etc…problem is some of us don’t actually have the Game Data folder. It’s not there, end of story. What a prick.

I found the cheat codes for mac on another website.
You can turn on Testingcheatsenabled manually all you do is go to your Medieval main game folder directory (where you installed the game, usually drive C) open the folder open “gamedata” then open “shared” then open “non packaged” then open “ini” then right click on “Commands” click “properties” then on the “general” tab uncheck the “read-only” box click “apply” then “ok” now right click on “commands” again and click “open with” then choose “notepad” and next to “TestingCheatsEnabled=0” erase the “0” and put a “1” click “file” then “save” and you can now drag the hunger bar and relationship bar back and forth and if you type in “help” in the cheat box “ctrl+shift+c” and press enter it will give you a bigger list of cheats.
I can’t get this to work it keeps telling me the action was denied?!?!

Save the edited commands document to your desktop, and copy the saved file into your sims installation folder. It gets around the denied popup.

In order for the testingcheatsenabled true work around that Numskull outlined to work then you need to allow yourself access to hidden files and folders as well as do this as your computer administrator.
just copy the commands.ini file onto desktop when you save it after editing with notepad, call it something else make sure you put .ini as the extension,, then rename after you have saved it, rename back to commands.ini…. left click the icon on windows desktop to do this…. copy and paste it back to the folder and ther you have it.. an edited file called commands.ini in its original folder

Guys when you try to save the INI File and its giving you the Error, simply Save it to your desktop And Drag it were it belongs. Click move and Replace when it asks you…

I have a problem, I’m at the step where you uncheck the “read-only” box and click “apply” but when I click “apply” I get “Error Applying Attributes” what do I do?
i got it to work! (make sure that before you do this you have uncheck the “read only” box and click “apply” and also this is how I did it on windows 7. i dont know if this method will work on other systems)
1. open computer or my computer
2. go to “OS (C:)”
3. then “program files”
4. “electronic arts”
5. “the sims medieval”
6. “game data”
7. “shared”
8. “non packaged”
9. “ini”
10. open up “commands” with “notepad”
11. change “TestingCheatsEnabled=0” to “TestingCheatsEnabled=1” without quotation marks.
12. then file save. if comes up with replace file or overwrite click yes and there you go!
if it says access denied and you cant save it, save the changed file to your desktop, then go back to the “ini” folder but DO NOT open it. just drag the file you just saved over the “ini” file and when it says replace or overwite click yes. and you’ve done it!

I’m having a weird problem…. So i tried to do it manually but when i opened the Sims Medieval folder, theres no folder called GameData or any ini files… the only folders are screenshots, savedsims, currentgame,screenshots and thumbnails. when i search it outside of the folder, still nothing comes up as game data.. my game is up to date, on a windows 7 not sure about the bit though. anyway to solve this?

When you find the file “Commands.ini” you must first right-click, select properties, uncheck the box “Read Only”, then click Apply or Ok. After that you can edit the file in notepad and it will save.

if noone has said this yet to edit the .ini file on a windows 7 computer you must first run notepad as a stand alone program as ADMINISTRATOR then you should proceed to open the desired file through notepad thus allowing you to edit the document as administrator, if you cant see your file because it is not immediatley compatiable with notepad change the selection box in the bottom right of the browse window to display all files
Im not sure which reason let me save the testing cheats enabled, but i gave full control to users, and i clicked save as.., as opposed to save 🙂

1 – SELECT COMMANDS.INI
2 – GET INFO
3 – RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE WHERE IT SAYS “open with” select TextEdit
4 – replace de 0 with 1

I had to save the file to my desktop, then copy+paste into the ini folder, and my PC asked if I wanted to replace the file, I said yes. It didn’t like it but still did it. And its copied.
I had to do the same thing for another EA game and it only worked to ‘replace’ the ini file, rather than mod and save. Happy gaming everyone!
