*Update – while we haven’t gotten the word ourselves from EA, those who attended the Dutch EA Ambitions fan event did get confirmation that there will be no 1000 free points from the 2nd expansion and instead will be replaced by the Careers free DLC bundle. Hopefully we will find out real soon if this is the case.
Hoping to get 1000 free Simpoints with the Ambitions expansion pack? Scratch that off your mind if what SimsPlanet2 reported is to be true from their time spent at the EA Netherlands Dutch hands-on event with The Sims 3 Ambitions:
There are probably no SimPoints 1000. You will get free items like hairstyles registration of the game. This replaces the points.
I don’t know about you but I’m pretty mad about this. I’d rather pick what content I want, not the other way around.
It says “probably”. Not a yes. Not a no.
Please stop trying to scare people one way or another. It’s not a confirmation of anything, just another guess.
GRrrrrrrr….. 😈
I want 1000 simpoints….. 😥
I was going to say, its not concrete proof, so at least change the title of this post to “There may not be 1000 sim points with this game.” Not to mention WA got free content + 1000 sim points…
Sean.
None of the promo materials for Ambitions has mentioned free SimPoints and I have been reading and watching carefully for this. Sadly, I think this will be true. I’m glad I got free points with HELS since it looks like Ambitions won’t have any.
I still have 850 Sim Points sitting there, doing nothing. There’s very little in that overpriced Store that’s worth having and all of that content should’ve been in the original game/EPs to begin with. Sadly, this isn’t 2005 any more, and all the publishers care about in this current recession/climate is screwing over the legitimate gamer either through poor-value DLC or criminal DRM, whilst the pirates get all their content for free with zero hassle.
Now that DLC is the norm, and millions of people are more than happy to fork out £17 for a bloody horse in some subscription MMO or £11 for rehashed maps for Cash-In Duty: Modern Borefest 2, the future of gaming is looking very bleak.
Mm, until we get official word I’ll keep an open mind, but the points wouldn’t have gone amiss.
If they actually release the expansion as an expansion should be priced without making up excuse like with WA that the hiked-up cost was to cover the Sim Points (so we paid for free points…?), then maybe not having the points will be worth it.
Alternatively, they could release the points and price the EP fairly. Just a thought. xD
I believe we’ll get the 1000 simpoints. We got it with WA however, if that no free points is the “price” of an extra tenner off the game’s price, I can live with that 🙂
I wish it was false, but they did get a semi-confirmation from EA as they did ask. And of course, there is always a possibility it may be indeed be false – I hope it is myself. But as others have said, we should have already heard/known that 1000 Simpoints would come with Ambitions if it did. They (EA) didn’t keep it a secret when World Adventures had it.
We shall hopefully know by next week or so, the ‘going gold’ announcement or the ‘release’ press announcement is mere days away and it’ll truly confirm whether we’ll see the points.
No 1000 SimPoints? No matter. Just decrease the price of the EP’s by $10 to the price they used to cost. Then I won’t mind.
Hopefully there’s a glitch like last time… only instead this time we get 10,000 simpoints xP
I like your thinking, Yeow! 😀
If this is true then they cannot give the excuse of the bundle being instead of the 1000 sim points because WA came with a special WA bundle AS WELL AS the free points when we registered it… Smells more like EA just being it’s old self again, giving with one hand and then taking double back with the other… then that’s If this is true of course. lol
Well this is for the Netherlands so it may differ in different countries, Some countries never got free Simpoints at all, Also in a couple countries (The only one I know for certain is Denmark) the price has dropped the equivalent of about 10$ but in other countries the price has stayed the same this would mean
1. Some countries are losing the simpoints and so their game is cheaper
2. Everyone is losing the simpoints but they are evil and don’t lower the price 😛
Wow, y’all are SO fickle! :O I mean, they include simpoints in WA, and almost EVERYONE complained that they should’ve just included the content and forgotten about simpoints altogether. So here they are, possibly doing what everyone’s been asking for, and everyone’s suddenly upset about it. I’m just… wow… I’m blown away at how hypocritical you all are. :O
I believe it’s the decision of their pricing. Like EA said in the past, the $40 for WA was to cover the $10 worth of Simpoints it came with. Now if they ditch the simpoints, then we’re still paying $40 as thats the price they are still charging for it. If they brought it back down to $30, I can understand.
I can ensure you that someone from EA Holland told us (to the Dutch fansites) that we won’t have any SimPoints, but instead of points we get a bundle with special offers like hair and other stuff. This replaces the 1000 points. I thought they said that everyone gets the same bundle.
They didn’t tell us about the specific stuff. We have to wait for more information.
@Simsense Sometimes, The original complaint was that $10 of the $40 for the expansions was spent on the points, so the points weren’t really “free”, and now they’re not including the points so many people think that it should be $30 (because there are no points) but instead it is $40.
I agree that $40 is a ridiculous price without the $10 worth of points. EA has said that the points were partly the reason why WA was $40. And WA still had a free bundle pack. What would be the reason for AMB? Either way, many people will still buy it and that’ll help justify EA’s pricing.
Your comments are all too long… 🙁
I just have one comment: those extra things replacing our simpoints better be AWESOME! GRRR
all i can say is, im happy i got the sale price of $20 for Ambitions.
however, if i dont get free 1000 points, then i’ll just continue not buying from the store. simple as that. i’ll just keep trying to buy the stuff on discounted sale prices. 🙂
** stuff is supposed to = packs
World Adventures’ RRP in the UK was £29.99, which included the ‘free’ Sim Points. Ambitions is £24.99 according to Play.com. Play are currently offering it up for preorder at £17.99.
So it would seem that with the drop in RRP could reflect the fact that there’s no ‘free’ Sim Points up for grabs. Even so, that’s still £5 more than any TS2 EP on release day. EA sure love their money.
I got it today. No simpoints 🙁
Hello! I just want to give an enormous thumbs up for the good information you have got here on this post.
I will probably be coming again to your weblog for
extra soon.
WOW just what I was searching for. Came here by searching for âñåñîþçíàÿ
