We’re long overdue for a new SimCity. SimCity 4 was released…what in January of 2003? That’s 7 years ago. SimCity Societies was suppose to be it’s follow up…but we all know how that turned out…Then we had CitiesXL and to be honest, that completely dropped off my radar after it required a monthly payment. Now IBM wants to take a stab at city creation with their new ‘CityOne’ game. However, they want to focus on the real life aspects instead of sending UFO’s and Godzilla to attack your citizens. Sure, it’ll never be SimCity in my eyes, but what are we to do when Maxis won’t pick up on one of their greatest and oldest franchise? It’s practically their version of Nintendo’s Mario….
CityOne is much like Sim City, only the problems are scarily real, ranging among energy, water, banking, and retail. So, for example, one day you might get hit by a rapid increase in water usage due to population growth–while you’re still losing 40% of your water supply to leaky pipes. (This is actually reality, in decrepit megalopolises such as Mumbai and Mexico City.) To fix that problem, you’ll have to carefully install a real-time water management system. Or, to encourage growth in small-businesses, you’ll have to set up an infrastructure of mobile payments, dynamic invoicing, and micro-lending.
LETs face it this game will ROCK!
finally SOMEBODY LISTENED TO ME BUT ibm SERIOUSLY… U DO KNOW HOW TO CREATE A GAME DO YOU!
ND IT DOESNT LOOK MUCH LIKE A GAME EITHER! 🙁
The video is boringly over the top and yes, it will never be a Sim City game. It lacks the fun =)
I like to find a little “refuge” in the games I play. So to me it’s too much reality, which means less fun… I don’t know, I guess I need to play it to experience it, but I really do enjoy the crazy characters on Maxis games and the playability of it all, it’s so much different than Cities XL and other more “real” games.
🙂
I agree with the sapmmer here LoveGTAandSims or i dont have a name because you guys did you forget Cities XL it came out last year and it ok but it lacks that maxis magic also this will be for city planners and city designers. On big mainframes rendering the entire city to plan the most efficient dam or whatever.
Looks really cool! But I emailed CitiesXL once when it first came out and they said it does not require a monthly payment, that is just optional for the “World” feature to play with others online. I really hope one day Maxis will pick up SimCity one day, I have high hopes!! 😀
Sometimes it feels these games are too realistic… I mean, it’s marvelous they want to make it convincing, but when you’re reminded every minute of real-life crises, it doesn’t really seem like a “game” anymore. I mean, if these companies make it too realistic, then you’d be better off doing that work in real life; at least you’d get paid for it then. Get what I’m saying? o_o
EA, will definitely create a competition to IBM’s CityOne, they just can’t resist! Good Games ‘a’ Comin
why wont it load
