Those who care about the Facebook ability of sharing your achievements on your profile as well as other in-game features may want to consider not purchasing The Sims 3 pre-owned as EA will tie those in with a special serial code. This ‘code’ can only be redeemed once and cannot be transferred according to MCV. For those wondering, this applies to both Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles – those who plan to pick up the Nintendo versions need not to worry.
It’s just another way for publishers to try to close off the second-hand market as they do not see any returns from the purchase. I usually always buy my games pre-owned to save on cash – why spend $59 when I could get the game on Ebay for $30 or less? Doesn’t bother me a bit, don’t plan to use that feature anyway. Just thought I’d let those know who also purchase games used to give them a heads up.
Good call Jud, I’ll take this into consideration, thanks. 😀
I was all excited, but EA gotta throw a little spanner in the works somewhere, don’t they? xD
Actually, having no Facebook connectivity is a major plus as far as I’m concerned. I don’t get this whole “the world needs to know what you’re doing” approach a lot of developers and publishers are going for these days. I don’t use Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and all those other social networking sites because I like to keep my private life as just that… Private! I certainly don’t need my mates to know what games I’m playing.
Perhaps EA should be spending more time fixing the lighting they broke in TS3. Oh, wait… That would suggest they actually give a toss about the customer in the first place.
I don’t get this to be honest. The PS3 can already post your trophy unlocks to Facebook if you’ve set it up to do so. Surely, regardless of getting this game first or second hand, you’d still be able to do that? Unless it posts more than just trophy/achievement info?
