Can’t believe the weekend is coming to a close, back to another boring week of work! It pays well though, and that’s the most important part! I have a lot on my mind – about this site and my life in general, so let me get to writing!
Site wise, I can’t believe Luke’s little post about his desktop stirred up quite the controversy, one of our most commented posts 😛 Anyhow, I can’t stress hard enough that this site is not limited to strictly Sims – it can be everything and anything that I want (and allow for them) to post. I like his new desktop, I’m a sucker for seeing how others have theirs laid out. Mine personally has no icons, I use ObjectDock instead for all of my needs. If I had a touchscreen monitor, I’d end up doing exactly what he did! So, let me make this clear – if you see a post that you may not find of your interest, just skip it and scroll on down 🙂 It’s that simple. This site isn’t meant to stand out of the rest, we’re just another fansite – we just want to share our normal human side and not just be robots programmed to sell and advertise EA games.
Let’s see….The poll – not planning on changing it this week, will have one ready for next week! Oh, and thanks for the tip about our forums being down. It appears that the latest PHP update broken them. I’ve let our tech guru, ManagerJosh know about this so hopefully it’ll re-appear soon!
One last comment about the site for I touch on a few personal things. This summer looks like it’s going to be a busy one, so I think I may be on the lookout for a new recruit. I already have one in mind (I’m looking at you, Simillion) but if anyone else is interested (possible someone who is good at creating custom content or knows many of the sites that are high quality and would like to feature some downloads) then please email me. Familiarity with WordPress is required!
Now to the personal matters. As I mentioned, this summer is going to be a very busy one! I’ve decided it’s time to move out of my old folks place (I’m 23, and no, I don’t live in the basement or attic – not a total loser!) and find a home for myself. Problem is, I need a good chunk for a downpayment. It’s kind of a spur of the moment thing, and I know that’s not a good idea in terms of wanting to buy a house, but I feel like the sooner, the better. So, considering that I’ll be needing money, I’ll be going thru my room selling a lot of my collectibles that I have on Ebay. Look forward to seeing some posts hawking my stuff in the coming weeks. If anyone is interested in Star Wars, Nintendo and model cars/collectibles then keep an eye out! And no, my EA/Sims stuff is off limits!
I’ve also been considering if it would be a good idea to put up a donation button but my morals are getting to me. I can’t help but to think if I could somehow get 4,000 visitors to each Paypal $1 that’d be sweet. I’m not going to place one up just yet, rather I want to hear your opinion on this. Would it be wrong to do? I mean, it could be a cool campaign ralley “Help Jud buy a House”. I’ll even give out a free tour via video 😛
I say go for it with the donate button. It’s your site, and people don’t have to donate if they don’t want to. With any luck you’ll get something out of it. I’m sure some members of the community would be willing to help. No one has any right to complain if you’re not using it to keep people from certain content without donating.
I’ve always wanted to do a blog and that why Mod the Spore faided because it just spore and I got to busy 🙂 and most people interested in the sims are a bit more tech literate so tech may be more interesting so I really don’t care. Ohh and bye the way Judhudson good luck
Just to mention it…I didn’t know if everybody was aware, but if you click the “News” button under the drop down menus at the top of the site…you’ll get the news that’s pertinent to that topic (i.e. Sims 3, Sims 2, Sims, Spore, etc) and you won’t have to scroll thru so many topics! I don’t play Spore or Handhelds so often I’ll just check out the Sims 3 News!
p.s.- I’ll donate a buck, but only if we can have MOAR MULE!! 😀
I would donate a dollar every week. Because im such a huge fan of your site.
Hello there!
I am stacker of your site since…a year now. You always have the fresh news an guess what – I am from Romania!
In conclusion, you have a very good site, I bet you lost a lot of freetime so yes, hive us a donate button!
Good luck at your new house!
I say go for the donate button. I’m sure loads of people would be willing to donate, this site is an amazing place and I’m sure lots of people would like to help out.
Yeah, go for the donate button. Normally I ignore such things, but your site is great and let’s face it, $1 isn’t exactly a lot to ask for 🙂
Definitely go with the button. I have gotten a tonne of stuff free from this site (either directly or as a result of links posted to giveaways on other sites): simPoints, Spore and Galactic Adventures, Sims 3 base game and High End Loft stuff. Plus, your news posts have helped me to get deals on other sim-relate games. (of course your posts also convince me to buy more games that I otherwise would have… maybe EA should be donating to your site too!)
Plus, it’s not as though as people are forced to donate. As long as you don’t include a gift for donating, you’ll be fine. It should always be completely optional. If anything, you are being as honest as you can about the reason for the button’s existence. You are not giving silly excuses and I appreciate that. Besides… a dollar is seriously not that big of a deal for many people, and if anyone ever donates more, that is their choice (again, make it optional). I hope you get the place you need! Just promise me that it won’t include 25 bathrooms. 😉
jud, Definately go for putting a donate button. I’d far rater donate a buck or two so you wouldn’t have to give up your large collections… 😀
Go fro the donate button. The sites is fun and informative and where I come for all my Sims news and patch downloads. I love the human side to the site with the other stuff, not just Sims things posted which is why I find the backlash at your having a personality faintly pathetic. Keep up the good work 🙂
