Expansion Pack to Award-winning Game The Sims 3 Allows Players to Become Fearless Heroes and Ace Entrepreneurs
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 4, 2010 –The EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that The Sims™ 3 Ambitions Expansion pack* is in development and will launch in June 2010. As the second expansion pack to The Sims 3, the best-selling PC game of 2009**, The Sims 3 Ambitions allows players to pursue a variety of exciting paths and careers in their Sims’ lives that in turn affect their overall gameplay experience and neighbourhood. While on the job, the player has direct control over their Sims’ work and can choose how to spend their days. Opt to make house calls and save lives as a doctor or choose the devious route and test experimental medicine on patients; be the hero firefighter tackling raging infernos or smashing everything in sight at the victim’s home with an axe; or take a shot at solving cases as an investigator, nicely convincing sources to divulge secrets or roughing up perpetrators in a dark alley to get information.
“The variety of careers to choose from is unmatched and we’ve never given players the opportunity to follow their Sims to work and affect their actions on the job,” said Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio at EA. “The Sims 3 Ambitions changes that. Players’ actions at work now directly affect their lives, community and neighbours and become an extremely important part of how the game is played.”
Players can now experience some of the most exciting and varied jobs. In The Sims 3 Ambitions, players can choose to hunt down vengeful spirits as the ghost hunter, invent brilliant and potentially destructive gadgets as an inventor, craft glorious masterpieces as a sculptor, and solve riveting cases by any means necessary as an investigator with dozens of cases to solve and numerous clues to find. Additionally, players will be able to change the look and feel of their town by becoming an architect and directly affecting the neighbourhood around them leveraging Build and Buy mode. The stylist career and new tattoo system allow players to make over their Sim neighbours in fashionable or catastrophic ways. For the first time, players will be in charge of how their Sims’ career progresses and decide if they will work for good or evil, pursue creative endeavours or technical affairs, climb to the top quickly, or be a slacker. The future of a Sims’ success or failure is entirely in the hands of the player.
The Sims 3 Ambitions will also be available for feature phones, iPhone and iPod touch in late 2010 from EA Mobile™. These versions will have customized mobile gameplay features which will be revealed in the coming months and will not require a base game to play. wOW!That means NO rabbitholes????
New careers?New skills?New traits?
Tataoo making?Fashion Designer??
This gonna be the BEST expansion EVER!!!!!!!
Nice – this may mean that we have more control over townies – at least the default kinds of clothes they wear.
Big Kudos to JudHudson and the crew for really keeping on top of things with all the information and pics! Thanks & Great Work!! 😀
You’re welcome, PajamaRick. I, for one, am stoked about this EP after reading this. Wow! 🙂
i cant wait. i passed on world adventures but this is a must buy
i have a question. will the rabbit holes open up or are they creating a whole new town. i dont think we’ll see them at work but only while they work in the town. its impossible to open the rabbit holes we have now
Actually underwhelmed by this to be honest. If you had the ability to run your own business as well as follow your sims to a job, then I’d be enthusiastic. Open for Business would have been tops for Sims 3, but instead we have this.
I doubt the rabbit holes will open up. They never directly stated this in the press release and EA rarely adds extra features that they do not describe. If EA can sell a feature, they would.
Curious as to how this will work then. If the rabbit holes don’t open, does the expansion kick in when a sim pulls away in the car and goes to work, or is it essentially a seperate game like WA which has to be actively kicked in to access?
im guessin the town is their job. rabbit holes will stay closed and sims will get calls when a fire starts or etc
It looks good, and I still need more details about it anytime. As for rabbit holes, they might be accessible or not. Maybe we will build non-rabbit holes/”homes” for our Sims and their careers. For instance, home businesses where they run their beauty shop, tattoo shop, etc while others like grocery store, book store, etc will remained unaccessible. Or they might go over Sims’ homes to do their job. We will have to wait and see for that in the further months.
The way I see it, think of them as mini careers. You choose what you want to be and you…do it. If you’re a fire fighter you get called about a fire and you go put it out. If you’re a tattoo artist, perhaps other Sims come to your house to get a tattoo. If you’re an inventor you build you own workshop and build from there. These aren’t actual “careers”, just jobs you can do to earn money.
If you do actually travel to work in the morning, then I assume they’ll be normal lots that you can walk around in and whatnot. I don’t think rabbit holes are affected in any way, nor do I think they’ll add more.
i knew about this when they leaked it on amazon.com a few days ago.
im excited for it but why couldn’t it have been seasons instead? we need seasons!
This is the most excited I’ve been about an EP in some time! Since TS2 Open for business actually…
Inventing! Private investigating! Ghostbusty goodness! New skills! Plus the ramifications of things like architecture and fashion design sound awesome; changing fashions, buildings and newly invented technologies might finally put paid to the ‘2010 stasis’ currently present in Sims 3, e.g. Generations pass, but tech, fashion, hair etc. all currently stay static around the late 00’s – early ’10s mark. 😛
omigosh i want it!! im totally gonna ignore WA and go right to this….im soooooooooooo excited yay
Need…more…sim…deaths 😀 I loved some of the more inventive ways to kill a sim in Sims2, Sims3 has been very ‘lite’ thus far…:) Please, EA? 😀
Mmm…Im exsited but i think that it needs ALOT MORE JOBS THEN THIS and i wonder if it’s worth buying cuz it doesnt say wether *you gonna see your sims working or not …. if i wont be able to control their working and see them working then i think it’s not worth buying it. BUT STILL IM EXSITED ;D
they could do a TRAITS expansion pack where it could be 100 more traits…
THAT WOULD BE GREATT. and they could also make seasons expansion pack xD i would definnetly buy dat! I have sims 3 world adventures and im kinda bored of it ;/ it only has three places to go…egypt france and china… ;/
Answer to bee:
I think there are still rabbit holes but yours sims go to “House calls” where you visit the customers house and and your sim does whatever their job is. E.g firefighter would go to work at a fire station with a rabbit hole but will go to peoples houses if there’s a fire
I hope we see pets, weather and apartments soon!!
I also would love open-for-business for the sims 3 ^^
i think that maybe on the next sims 3 you should create it where you can have a huge cruise ship and go on it and travel to places like: Italy, london, los veagas, los angels,Germany,Asia,Japan,Alstralia, and Great Britan that would be amazing to have a game like that and the person who created the sims is amazing i have everyone of them and their awsome but if you take this advice you’ll be rich and have alot of happy customers one of them will be me so think you and have nice day bye!!!!!!
