PATCH INSTALLATION NOTES
EA/Maxis patches do not like 3rd party custom content, and may cause many errors in your game. It is best to remove your mods from the game and to restore all modified files back to the original condition by copying the originals from the game’s cd. If problems persist after you move the mods, you might want to check to see if your hardware drivers are up to date. Worst case scenario – you may have to reinstall the game.

Everyone Don’t Download the new Patch they Delete anything not from the store CC & free items .. only from the store … Why they always have problem =(
It’s make me cry ..
That sucks. I wanted to try the Create-a-World tool but you need to patch the game first. Sigh.
Is it just me — or is the 1.8 patch screwed up?
Another thing, the link for the first 1.8 patch is completely messed up and needs to be replaced.
Can you please tell me what link is broken? They all seem to work on my end… :S
I get an error

IE Version: 8.0.7600.16385
I recently upgraded my vista home premium to win 7 home premium
any recommendations for fixing this?
It looks like this patch doesn’t allow you to use sims3packs which haven’t been purchased from the Store. This doesn’t mean illegal store stuff only, but also sims3packs coming from third parties. Also, a lot of people are experiencing game crashes while loading, which are apparently due to the Shopping Mode…I can’t believe that each patch is a nightmare. Really, I can’t make it.
I’m trying to keep up with the complaints…There are so many, each reporting numerous problems…I can’t seem to keep up what the patch breaks. I swear, why can’t EA test their own stuff instead of using us?
this patch froze me ea download page and i cant play my sims3 game at all now

Please Help :/
Question, are you running a legit copy of the game? There are a number of people having this issue with the patch if you do a google search – can’t seem to find the answer on how to fix it, but many are coming from illegal copies. 🙁
When I ran the patch 2.2.8 to version 2.3.33, it reduced me to base game and now refuses to run World Adventures. I have no idea what happened. I rely on the launcher to tell me what I need to do and I have to do manual patches because I lack memory (?) so I’m really screwed. Guess I’ll be uninstalling WA. *sigh* I really like the Sims 3, but it’s way more complicated than Sims 2 ever was with all these stupid patches.
You also have to download and install the update for the base game…I had the same issue and was like WTF until I was told to do the same by frankie.
These patches are always causing some sort of problem. It was so much easier with Sims 2 I don’t recall evr having problems with Sims 2, but Sims 3 is another story. Argh! It’s driving me crazy I’m always reinstalling this game.
This patch is horrible I have a legit copy of the game and add-on and I downloaded torrents of store items but the new patch seems to take all the things out that you havent payed for. So looks like the days of finding store items for free or items on other sites is over! Also my game crashed while building a house and it’s never done that before. I hate this update!
If you have stolen or downloaded items it wont install you have to remove all those things and then try it and if it doesnt work you have to uninstall/reinstall. I had to do that 🙁
For those who are getting the error:

The download link was broken at didn’t download the full patch, and so failed to patch as it was 20MB smaller than it should be.
Re-download and patch to fix
Thanks for the tip, Matt. Yeah, I obtained a smaller patch from EA and didn’t realize it. They corrected it shortly after and now the full patch is up. I’m very sorry about that.
Well i have stuff i bought from the Sims store and it still doesnt give them to me in game..I have other packs from different sites but they seem to be working.. Im not to sure what to do.. i guess wait til they release something or a fix..
I’m just going to uninstall my game and update it to the old patch, since this doesn’t seem to be compatible with a lot of my mods and I want to keep all of my downloads.
I installed the patch the first time and the launcher was pretty much dead. It would take about 10 minutes to load, and then would go unresponsive. I uninstalled ALL custom content, hacks, store stuff, WA and base game..then reinstalled only base game. I patched the base game, then checked to make sure it was working fine (it was), then installed and patched WA. I couldnt use Sims 3 at all before patching up to the newest patch (wouldnt let me click on start game via launcher, just stayed on the updates page). The game worked after final patch, but its SLOW. It takes approximately 30 minutes to get into game play, and the sims are all glitchy and freezing. Then I couldnt SAVE any games. Custom content makes it freeze when loading a sim’s household (whether from users or from store). Pretty much makes getting WA a waste of cash now, and yes, my game is 100% legit. What a waste of cash.
Region error?
So where can I get a working patch for my game? (Bought in England last year.) This is seriously stressing me because my game is fully legitimate, just the base game with no expansion, plus my disk drive has broken since I installed it so I have to use no-disk hacks and cannot reinstall it for the life of me. 🙁
You can get the appropriate patch for your region in the patches section. Check your current patch version and look at the last digits for the region.
i downloaded 2.2.8.002002 to 2.3.33.003002 and then it said that base game needs to be updated, and i cant because my pc does not have internet.
i using my friends pc and his is working fine
please i need help???????????????
Yep, that seems to be common. You need the update 1.8 for the base game which you can also pick up from here in the patches section.
