Like it or not, The Sims 3 patches are buggy. Some say they have no issues – that’s fantastic. Others say their game took a huge dump and left marks all over the place. For those folks, I’m sorry to hear what has happened. 🙁
However, The Sims 3 team is aware of the issues (hey, if you were aware, why bother releasing it? Ah that’s right, because we’re beta testers) and made a comment in this thread at the official forums regarding version 1.8, the Create-A-World Tool and the official website issues:

Figures! There is never a patch that they make that won’t require another patch to fix it!!! INSANE!!! I waited but then decide to download it… no real big changes just that my game takes longer to load. Oh well… 🙁 waiting for the patch for the patch.
I’m very angry with EA. What has gotten into them with these patches of failure? Seriously? My game seems fine but the launcher is not after installing the new patch (no package files in my game). I can’t close the launcher via the X button up top, as it won’t shut the launcher for whatever reason. And the download section freezes the launcher when accessed, even when trying to install CC. I am so fed up with this crap. No one should have to reinstall the game. This is the only patch that gave me issues like this.
SO GOING TO KILL EA!!!! Now my game starts to crash after a few minutes!!! Crap.
OMG i am very very very very angry, because my game has changed the language to english (it was on spanish, im from argentina) and the worst thing was that i lost everything! my families, riverview and everything i instaled from thesims3.com i lost it all!!! an dim very upset and im still waiting for a solution and an explanation on this. i hope you could solve this.
I wish I can help, but the only suggestion I have at the moment is to keep focused onto the official site in hopes they’ll address these problems. I wish there was something I could do, but at this time I am not aware of any fixes 🙁
My game since this patch is crashing to desk top and the edit in game is also crashing to desk top. I cant load the world I created or just load the game to build lots or play! I also noticed that when I run CAW my pc acts funny. The one annoying thing is my clock on the pc sets itself to EA california time. I live in PA so I am 3 hours ahead. So when I am done I have to set the clock to my back to my time. That is crazy that a program would touch my pc settings!
I wish that EA would test their patches instead of making US do it.
Does that seem right?! Ugh, thanx EA for making a really cool game I spend more time trying to fix than actually playing!
Given that the date is the 11th of Jan and still no fixes I think EA have really failed us on the sims 3, I can’t download anything with my launcher or even play my game, what a waste of money we all spend on this crap, you would think after all the years of them bringing out games they would learn to get it right, I put away my sims 2 game and expansions from frustration that they wouldn’t work and looks like i’ll be doing the same with sims 3.
So glad i didn’t waste my money and buy WA. But hey as long as EA is making money what do they care if there consumers are not happy.
The lack of concern that there games don’t work astounds me.
