The Sims Resource has launched a brand new tool that deals with Sims 3 Pack files called ‘TSR Launcher‘ which allows users to bypass the official Launcher for custom content. It’s still in Beta stages, so you may encounter errors, but with jFade on the job, you can bet it will be fixed if there are even any to begin with! So far, it’s only for PC but a Mac version is also in the works. The program has been added to our Sims 3 Programs – Package Managers/Editors Section.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Sims 3 Nieuws!
Why couldn’t they do this with Sims 2 Packs? MTS manged to pull it off but they stopped supporting that software.
I wish I knew 🙁
Well the main difficulty with Sims2Packs was that there was no functionality (from EA) to install multiple Sims2Packs at once. That and the fact that you could just extract the contents and shove them in the Downloads folder.
Sims3Packs are a bit more interesting cause EA provides a way to install many of them simultaneously through the Launcher, but the Launcher is (in my opinion) poorly designed and lacks fine filtering abilities, so that’s where this came along. Plus since we can’t just drop things in a Downloads folder anymore it’s a little bit more frustrating. While I would still prefer manual file management, managing Sims 3 CC “iTunes style” is acceptable to me for anything that’s not a mod, especially if it means I can get a CC plumbbob in the catalog.
Not a fan of the launcher IMO. I especially hate uploading anything. Dang limitations on lots, still can’t seem to upload a lot bigger than 4.1 MB to My Studio Page.
I loathe the fact that we can’t just plop files in the downloads folder in the same way as Sims 2, however, I especially loathe not being able to delete CC in the game. What’s up with that? The trash button is always greyed out and I recently discovered that it is only for deleting saved presets. 🙁
