Mods make the game so much more interesting but the problem is, The Sims 3 wasn’t coded to be mod friendly. It seems that those who have mods are more acceptable to experience issues than those with a mod-free clean game. And you know what, EA can’t really be blamed for that as it’s not their responsibility to make sure the patches work with mods. Would it be nice, yes it would…but they are only responsible for their own content.
I run a mod-free game and so far, with the 1.6.6 patch did not experience any issues. Of course, there is still a number of those who also run a mod-free game and still get screwed…so I am not sure what the culprit is to be exact.
Anyhow, with World Adventures I think mods will now be stored in a different folder according to SimGuru_BGY_11:
Before World Adventures, the Mods folder and file Resource.cfg were placed in the following directory:
C/ProgramFiles/ElectronicArts/TheSims3 or go to the directory you installed to your game.
WA When installed it created a new folder under:
C/Programfiles/ElectronicArts/TheSims3WorldAdventures.
This is where you need to move your Mods folder and file Resource.cfg. to C/ProgramFiles/ElectronicArts/TheSims3WorldAdventures
You can move the Mods folder and Resource.cfg by right-clicking, selecting Cut, then Paste into the appropriate directory.

Thanks to Sims 3 Nieuws for reporting the tip.
Well yeah… I didn’t move the folder and the mods still work, specially items. But some custom content crashed the game, custom content from TSR, by the way…
Anyway, some fences in my game don’t have transparency and appear with a weird texture. Fences and patterns from the Store have that problem, although I’m note sure it is a mod, I’m guessing it’s something in the new expansion messing with that.
It depends so much on the setup you have. I’m playing with an ATI integrated chip on my laptop. I recently upgraded to dual-core and have 1.7Gigs of RAM available. It doesn’t run smoothly, but it runs well enough to have at least 2 options set on medium. I’m thinking of upgrading the RAM, the 7 takes up a little bit more that Vista, he he!
🙂
You run 1.6 with no slowdowns?
what if i dnt have a resource.cfg file im just starting over with new CC? im not using mods just custom hair and clothes. is that okay?
Nope, moving it didn’t help.
“their responsibility to make sure the patches work with mods”
Support the main selling point of their game? Yeah that would be silly.
im sorry to say, but most mods dont work for WA
ive done what im supposed to do, even copy the dx thing
ive tried around 10 times with different variations, but still no luck
lets say like instant skills and stuffs, nothing works
any way around this problem?
