Chris Hecker confirms layoffs at Maxis

There are a number of Spore players who wished Chris Hecker would of been fired when it was mentioned that he was the reason Spore became ‘cute’.  However, even Will Wright denied the fact that Chris was not responsible.  Either way, that’s not going to matter now…according to the man himself, he was one of the 24 who was laid off yesterday.  Sad to hear that, I actually liked the guy after meeting him in August last year.  You have to give him some credit – he did help establish procedural animation.  Not all is lost, he’s currently working on his indie project Spyparty.
