EA’s fiscal second quarter revenues are in and it’s not looking good for employees of the giant corporation. While they gained a 33% increase in revenues compared to last year ($864 Million, $650 Million) there took a huge chunk of losses which reached $310 Million (from last year’s $150 Million).
So, in order to correct these losses, EA plans to reduce their costs by cutting 6% of their staff, which rounds to about 600 people. They aren’t looking at any studios in particular, anybody can receive the pink slip. It’s not a good time to be working for EA at the moment.
At least Spore players may get their wish to see Chris Hecker get the boot (I doubt it, but you never know).
Good news though, during the press conference EA stated that Spore has just about hit the 2 million mark.

Yay, let’s hope Chris Hecker get’s the pinkity slipity.
*hopes*
Hey, thanks for the news =3
I was just reading about this at Game Politics and found this quote funny for some reason; “Spore sold two million units. That’s a respectable amount, and the title is sure to sell steadily into the future to mass market audiences. But it’s not the mega-hit that some had hoped for.” Yeah, that’s what happens when you infuriate most of your customers before the game is even released; SecuRom, release date changes, customers are criminals, etc.. Then insult the rest of them by dumbing down the game and making it too cutesy. Then spitting out a stuff pack two months after release with more cute crap even the creepy stuff looks too cute. I’m sure Chris Heckler isn’t 100% to blame for the cute crap but since it is Halloween he would make an excellent human sacrifice to the gaming Gods.
