Ah, The Sims 2 Store.  I remember fans were outraged when EA opened this up and started charging for content.  But they kind of opened it late in the series, so it really didn’t have a purpose – especially with so many fansites out there with better content – and for free!

Well, every game has its end, and for The Sims 2, it is time to shut down the Store.  Maxoid_Hydra posted the following over on The Sims 2 BBS:

Beginning March 31st, The Sims 2 Store will be closing its doors. Any content purchased from The Sims 2 Store will no longer be available after this date. Please download your purchased content and save an archive copy for your future use by March 30th. Your purchase history can be found by logging into your EA account on The Sims 2 Store (http://thesims2store.ea.com ), selecting “My Account”, and clicking on “Purchase History” on the Account Details page. SimPoints will be available for purchase on The Sims 2 Store until March 15th. If you would like to use your SimPoints balance to buy additional content on The Sims 2 Store, you must do so before March 15th.

If you have an EA Account Balance, that balance can be used on other EA sites. Visit http://www.eacashcard.com for information on how to use your EA Account Balance.

If you have a SimPoints balance, you can also use your SimPoints to purchase content on The Sims 3 Store. Your SimPoints balance is associated with your EA Account and will remain available for use on The Sims 3 Store after The Sims 2 Store closes. However, please note that to use The Sims 3 Store you must be a member of The Sims 3 Community (https://www.thesims3.com/register.html). Visit www.TheSims3.com/Store for additional information. Content purchased on The Sims 3 Store is not compatible with The Sims 2 game.
